This week PAWS is featuring a ravishing Rat Terrier named Cous- cous, who was found at an abandoned home by the police. As the officer ap- proached the dog in at- tempts to catch her, she ran in the opposite di- rection. The officer tried calling her, and when he used the endearing term Couscous, she came right to him. Couscous is a gentle, loving dog and appears happy to have a warm place to sleep. She has a very companionable per- sonality and can be ad- opted by calling 812-354- 9894. Reading your Bible is very important as you grow in your relation- ship with Christ. It helps us to Know God, to learn of His will for our lives, helps us with worldly struggles and helps us to connect to Him on a deeper level. We learned about different ways to study our Bibles and find- ing the purposes of the pas- sages we read. Following our morning service, Ad- am Benefiel, Hunter Rus- sell, Melissa Goodpasture, Michelle White, and Nicole Haynes were baptized. Ma- ny gathered to celebrate and congratulate them on public- ly professing their faith in Je- sus Christ. If you are unable to attend a service, we broadcast our services live on Mt. Olive General Baptist's Facebook page each Sunday morning. Helping Others Know Christ, Grow in Christ, and Go Forth to Serve Christ. Alex Benefiel, Pastor Crystal Benefiel, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. First Wednesday of each month Advisory Board meeting, before Bible study. Thought for the week: With our words we either tear down or build up. We encourage or we discour- age. We bless or we curse. Our words are powerful. Be wise with your words. "May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer" (Psalm 19:14). Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love because every- one is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will nev- er go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe" ( John 6:35, 36 NIV ). Even after Jesus walked on water, and fed the hun- gry with a few small loaves of bread and two fish, the disciples still wanted to see more miracles before they believed. Are we at times like them and want more proof even after all He gives to us? Remember all the an- swered prayers and bless- ings He gives us each day and always remember to thank Him. He never fails. We invite you to our ser- vices. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Report- er FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH 7th and Poplar Street Petersburg 812-354-6582 or 812-789-3162 Welcome! Ray of Light in a Dark World "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boast- ful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable and it keeps no record of being wronged. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hope- ful, and endures through ev- ery circumstance." (1 Corin- thians 13:4-5 & 7 NIV ). This scripture is one of the most well known to ma- ny people. Most practice by those who understand that it is not only telling you about love but telling you how to act as a Christian. In acting this way we can show others the way to Jesus and what kind of love he has to offer. Many people go through there everyday routine not making that little bit of ef- fort that it takes to show oth- ers that love or kindness, on- ly showing duty, irritability and lack of hope for a bright day or future. These things not only cast a dark cloud on them but everyone in there contact. We as Christians need to follow this scripture so that in this dark and cloudy world we can be a ray of light show- ing people the way to Jesus through love, kindness, faith and hope. God bless you and keep you. We welcome you to all ser- vices. Come and worship Je- sus with us. "You shall love the Lord you God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength" (Deuter- onomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37, Luke 10 :27). Sometimes we love some- one because of what they do for us. So we should exam- ine our motives for obeying the above commandment. Do we love Him and serve Him because of what He can do for us OR do we love and serve Him because of WHO HE IS? Denny Wiscaver, Pastor Pam Nutter, Reporter LIVING FAITH CHURCH INTERNATIONAL 718 E. Anyone who lives faithfully in love also lives faithfully in God, and God lives in him. We love be- cause He has first loved us. If someone claims, "I love God," but hates his broth- er or sister, then he is a liar. Anyone who does not love a brother or sister, whom he has seen, cannot possibly love God, whom he has nev- er seen. He gave us a clear command, that all who love God must also love their brothers and sisters" (I John 4:16,19 -21 VOICE). • Prophetic worship this Wednesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. • Youth will meet this Fri- PETERSBURG HOLINESS CHURCH Pastor 419-354- 5500 (C) Parsonage 812- 354-9446 Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning worship and special junior church services 10 :30 UNION COMMUNITY CHURCH 3082 N.
