It is hard to believe the first quarter of the year is over, but that means spring is at hand! Let's bring on the warm weather. We sure are ready for it. is month's feature interview is with Damon Jacobs, a New York- based Licensed Marriage and Fam- ily erapist and HIV prevention specialist who focuses his work on health, love, and pleasure. rough his clinical work, Damon has spent two decades helping couples and individuals create joyful and sus- tainable relationships. He is best known for championing the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) through his work on social media, news print, broadcast appearances, including e New York Times, USA Today, MSNBC, NPR, Vice News, and more. I especially was interested in hav- ing Damon be the feature, as I have myself have begun taking Truvada (a.ka. PrEP). Surprisingly, a small percentage of people are taking the drug despite its 99 percent effec- tiveness at preventing HIV. I hope by featuring Damon, and high- lighting the effectiveness of PrEP, more folks will talk to their doctors and begin to take charge of their sexual health by beginning a PrEP regimen. Damon gives us a great overview of the drug, and dispels many of the mistruths about it as well. Not only can gay men take the drug, but women may also, which is one of the biggest secrets, it appears, about PrEP. I hope you find Damon's interview informative and enlightening. I also hope it provides those reading this with some incentive to explore the possibility of taking PrEP and begin those discussions with their doctors. See you next month!
