County Road 250W (Old Ditch Road), that connects Highway 56 west of Petersburg with the River Road, had scouring damage after water flowed across it for several days. Pike County Assis- tant Highway Super- intendent Josh Byrd said it is a portion of the road he has nev- er seen affected by flooding before. Below: This used to be the road bed of River Road. A highway department worker uses a mini-track hoe to scrape gravel out of a farm field next to Riv- er Road. The floodwaters had washed the gravel into the field. Byrd said the county had to replace or repair 21 different culverts throughout the county after strong rains two weeks ago.
