20 Diversity Rules Magazine March 2018 Celebrity Artist, LGBTQ Activist & Hu- manitarian Ben Workman aka Jumper Maybach has a new fan, transgender per- sonality, Jazz Jennings. Jumper recently gifted Jennings a one-of-a-kind work of art titled "From Darkness to Light #5." Jazz Jennings is an LGBTQ rights activ- ist and television personality, notable for being one of the youngest publicly documented people to be identified as transgender, and for being the youngest person to become a national transgender figure. "I am now officially Jumper's #1 fan," states Jennings. "Jumper is so talented and his story really touched my heart. I believe that we all have a destined calling. I love his motto! I'm certainly on the same page. I know I'm only a teenager, but it's my mission to spread my message of acceptance, tolerance and unconditional love." Jennings received national attention in 2007 when an interview with Barbara Walters aired on 20/20, which led to other high-profile interviews and appearances. Jennings stars in the TLC reality TV series, I Am Jazz, which focuses on her life with her family as a teenager and as a transgender youth. "Jazz Jennings is truly an inspiration and I am hon- ored to call Jazz my new friend," states Maybach. "Jazz has given transgender youth a voice and her courage continues to motivate me in the battle for LGBTQ equality." roughout his flourishing artistic career, Jumper has taken the time to give back to multiple LGBT or- ganizations including GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, Matthew Shepard Foundation, the Trevor Project and the Montrose Center, Houston's LGBT community center. About Jumper Maybach Jumper Maybach was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1963. He knew something special had taken place when his grandfather applied a white face on him the first time. It was then, within an instant that Jumper was born. However, it wasn't until a religious experience during a painful time in Jumper's life which enabled his vision to fully take shape. Ben believes it is a person's trau- mas that define the individual. He releases his joys and pain into his artwork, and thus becomes the storyteller of the creation. Jumper's techniques are self-taught through intense experimentation leading to an end re- sult: unique and representative of the artist. It's about understanding love, peace and the ultimate healthy transformation of an individual. e art is a constant evolution of color and complete abandonment of the paint. It is an unplanned per- formance that creates the extraordinary works. e complexity within his art comes from within. Jumper is unashamed to teach the world a lesson in compas- sion.
