BY JESSICA LANIEWSKI I t might be cold outside, but Taiwanese artist Leo Lin is tackling the hot subject of global warming. The artist's work is part of a Massachusetts College of Art and Design exhibit featuring 122 posters created since 2001 that take a broad look at issues changing our world. "Graphic Advocacy: International Posters for the Digital Age 2001–2012" will display artists' work from countries around the globe, including Russia, Jamaica, and Hungary. Lin, a professor in the department of visual design at the National Taiwan Normal University, has shown his work at biennials in Warsaw, Chicago, and Hong Kong. In this exhibit, the artist takes on the topic of our changing environment with Global Warming, shown above. "It is an issue tightly linked with the environment, ecology, and the subsistence of human 74 BOSTONCOMMON-MAGAZINE.COM beings," Lin explains. "Increasing temperature results in the sea level rising. This could lead to potentially catastrophic difficulties for shore-based com- munities. Some island nations would be submerged if the sea level becomes high enough. I am trying to reveal this environmental issue in my work." The exhibition is the third part of a trilogy curated by professor Elizabeth Resnick, the chair of graphic design at MassArt. The exhibit's digital focus was influenced by Resnick's close work with posters over the years. "I real- ized that people are disseminating posters online now," she says, "and knew that this is a robust enough subject to put into an exhibition." "Graphic Advocacy" will show in the Stephen D.
