C-2 Church Wednesday, Januar y 10, 2018 The Press-Dispatch CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY Continued in next column Always look up: There are treats beyond your wildest dreams waiting. This week PAWS is fea- turing a inquisitive young pup named Beamer, who has a fun-loving person- ality and loves to wrestle with his sister in the pup- py room at PAWS. He enjoys a good game of chase and would love to grow up with a young girl or boy. Beamer has soft, black fur with great white accents, one front Paw has a white knee sock and the other front paw has a white footie, a white chin, chest and pretty blue eyes. He is approximately three months old and likely has some Lab heritage. To reserve this good looking boy, call 812- 354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the BEAMER Continued from page 1 Continued on page 3 Independent Independent Baptist and mind which causes us to feel defeated. But Jesus says, I have overcome the world. Our fight to overcome the feeling of a defeated spirit is to recognize that the same spirit that raised Jesus from the grave, lives in us as be- lievers. He is our protector, our warrior and our Lord who will fight the battles we are going through. He gained Victory, His Victory is Our Victory. So when you feel defeated, look to the one who has already won the bat- tle over the defeated spirit. Live in Victory not in defeat. See our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Ayrshi- reValleyGB. "My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. For man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires" ( James 1:19,20). How often do we do the opposite of what God wants us to do? When the situa- tion arises, remember we do not always have to give our opinions. Remember to be a good listener and keep our anger in check, better yet turn it over to God. We were happy to have visitors Sunday and wel- come them back any time. We are remembering those who have lost loved ones and those in our church and area who are dealing with serious health issues. May God grant his peace and healing for those in need. We invite you to worship with us. The secret of happiness is not to do what you like to do, but to learn to like what you have to do. Too many people think happiness is an elusive will- o-the-wisp thing to be found by constant pursuit and re- lentless searching. But hap- piness is not an end itself, it is the byproduct of some- thing far greater pursuit and relentless searching. Jesus told His disciples: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be to you" (Matthew 6:33). The "things" He spoke of were the basic needs of life: food, drink, clothing and shelter. He told us not to make these things the chief goal of our lives, but to seek the king- dom. If we will take it, it's the secret of happiness: Seek first the kingdom of God. How do we do this? By sub- mitting ourselves without reserve to Jesus Christ as King of our lives every day. This is the path of true hap- piness. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I'm sure you will leave feeling blessed. May God bless each and every one.
