Detroit
This film recounts the events of
Detroit's 12th Street Riot, which
shook the city in 1967 and led to
the National Guard being called
in. After security guard Melvin
Dismukes (Boyega) bears wit-
ness to gunshots coming from
the nearby Algiers Motel during
the civil unrest, he accompanies
the police and National Guard
as they raid the building after
shooting out its windows. What
results is a confrontation that
eventually leads to deaths, and
Dismukes being charged with a
crime.
