With cocktail tastings, country music, a horse show, and dancing under the stars, the event treated 800 guests to food donated by Palace Station, Rubio's, and Fogo de Chão. Linda Smith, founder and executive director of Opportunity Village, donated a Mercedes-Benz for the raffle. To date, the event has raised $3.5 million. Rogers as honoree of the 11th annual M.E.N.U.S. (Mentoring & Educating Nevada's Upcoming Students) scholarship fundraiser at the M Resort Spa & Casino. Guests including Larry Ruvo and Kerry Simon mingled poolside at the Villaggio Del Sole Pool and Entertainment Piazza before a dine-around with more than 30 of Las Vegas's top restaurants including Gordon Ramsay Steak, Fleur, Sage, and Bratalian. Rogers is the founder and owner of Intermountain West Communications and an outstanding supporter of education. Following the presentation of the 2012 honoree award, the Counting Crows performed a live concert, during which lead singer Adam Duritz addressed a group of scholarship recipients from the stage. ECF's annual event raises money toward awarding scholarships within the hospitality industry for students demonstrating strong academic performance and financial need.
