PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEFF GALE (VANN); TODD OREN (QUAID); AL POWERS (CAREY); COURTESY OF THE LIGHT GROUP (BACK) FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF I toasted honorees from "The List" at Smith & Wollensky with colleague Tiffany Carey, wearing Chagoury Couture by Gilbert A. Chagoury. Happy birthday! I celebrated Yellowtail's four years at Bellagio with chef Akira Back. One of the highlights of my live theater schedule so far this year was getting to see Wicked at Smith Center with my mom. Like thousands of other theater fans, my heart went out to the underdog, the tragically green Elphaba. My mom, however, raved only about the annoyingly perky Glinda, who often steals the show with her much-appreciated comedic breaks, lighthearted jokes, and songs with an amazing array of inflec- tions, accents, and charm. After featuring CBS's Vegas stars Michael Chiklis and Carrie- Anne Moss on our cover, I met their costar and Los Angeles Confidential cover star Dennis Quaid with Tiffany Carey (ABOVE) after flying to LA with Vegas magazine publisher Joe Vann (LEFT). Thank you to Amber Harlan from Hotbox Salon for my hair and makeup. The first time I saw Wicked I was as enamored as Mom with the bubbly blonde Good Witch of the North. The actress's name: none other than Megan Hilty, now the star of NBC's Smash and our November cover girl. I could not be a bigger fan. From the Marilyn Monroe–worthy glam to her deep roots in live theater, I couldn't think of anyone who's a better fit for dazzling Sin City. The other bright spot on my November calendar as we move into this holiday season is my favorite event of the year, Vegas Gives, to be held this November 13 with our friends at The Shoppes at The Palazzo. The women this year have chosen some amazing charities to honor, and we hope to raise even more money than we did last year. I hope to see you there. ABBY TEGNELIA 22 VEGASMAGAZINE.COM
