Page 3 October 13, 2017 Student Opinions Austrian Exchange E ach year, a certain amount of students at Red Bluff High pay between $2,000-$2,500 to spend 3 weeks abroad. In return, we get a large amount of students from Austria who get to visit for 3 weeks and experience how United States citizens live their lives. Both groups of people get to experience something vastly differ- ent and get to encompass themselves in a different culture. It's a great way to learn about other communi- ties. While the Austrian exchange students are here, they have been vis- iting different places and have been excited about all of it. David Bauer, age 16, is especially excited to go to Six Flags, the amuse- ment park. Several oth- ers were excited to see San Francisco including Lena Reithofer, age 16, Pia Grabner, age 16, and Benno Hiti, age 16. These students come from a musical school so they all can play at least one instrument. Each year that they come a concert is held in the PAC and they play tra- ditional music as well as other styles. Some of the student performers also wear traditional German attire called lederhosen. This year the concert was held on October 12 during fifth and sixth period. Teachers could decide whether or not to take their students to en- joy the musical perfor- mance. Our school is 5 times bigger than the theirs ~ Daniel Schinnerl would take home our freedom as students. ~ Benno Hiti would take home Taco Bell since they don't have one in Gratz. ~ David Bauer would take home the school system. This years Austrian exchange group have traveled far to get a firsthand experience regarding the Northern American lifestyle and our perspectives on controversial things. This year there are almost 50 Austrians visiting our small town of Red Bluff, California.
