Joe was injured in a accident when he was thirty-two years old and it meant a big change in his life. The Callahan Family selected as Adoptive Fam- ily of the year during the Right to Life Banquet. The Cal- lahans were selected as the Adoptive Family of the year by the Daviess, Martin and Pike County Right to Life Groups. The Callahans spoke of how the adoption came about and how their views on this life issue has evolved. Sheila Harper was the main speaker for the Right to Life Banquet this past Thursday night at the Si- mon J. Graber Building. She is president of SaveOne Or- ganization and she gave a call to action to those pres- ent to take action against abortion. Harper, who had an abortion thirty-two years ago, said that was one of the worst mistakes made in her life. Her organization now helps women to recover from the trauma of abortion. Mike Fichter, the president of In- diana RTL, gave an update on the legislative progress made in 2017 on the abor- tion issue. Joe Sponn, of Washington, received a Pro-Life Award, and the Roger and Adriane Callahan Family, of Odon, was selected as the Adoptive Family for this year. The an- nual event drew nearly 500 people from the Daviess, Martin and Pike counties area.
