COLLEEN (FAIR) HUFFMAN Colleen (Fair) Huffman, 89, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Gibson General Hos- pital, Skilled Nursing Facili- ty in Princeton. She was born April 12, 1928, in Pike County. She came to Princeton in 1957, moving from Petersburg. She is survived by two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband of 47 years, Ralph Huffman, in 1993; and son, Larry G. Huffman in 2004. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at Colvin Funer- al Home in Princeton, with Pastor Gary Fair officiating. Burial followed at Columbia White Church Cemetery in Princeton. HUFF Donna J. Huff, 79, of Oak- land City, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, following an au- tomobile accident. She was born November 24, 1937, in Oakland City, to the late Claude Earl and Ophia Miller. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oakland City. She was the assistant manager of the former John- son's Restaurant in Oakland City. She also was an associ- ate for Turning Point Tech- nologies, selling Forever Living products. For many years, Donna owned and op- erated The Huff & Puff fit- ness and exercise facility. In May of 1984, Donna found- ed the local chapter of Phi Beta Psi at the urging of her son, Tony, who had been di- agnosed with cancer. Resi- dents of Oakland City will long recall memories of Donna as the lifeguard of her own backyard swim- ming pool, which she made available to any and all who asked during the hot, humid days of summer. Donna is survived by her sister, L. Faye Dysert, of Danville, Ill.; one niece, Su- san ( Jim) Walters; three nephews; and 15 great-niec- es and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; hus- band, Jack Huff; sons, Tab and Tony Bailey; grand- daughter, Jada Bailey; and a sister, Lorene McDonald. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:30 pm (CDT) on Saturday, No- vember 4, 2017, at Good Shepherd United Method- ist Church, 210 Harrison St., Oakland City, with Dr. Douglas Lowe officiating. Claridge, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Oc- tober 7, 2017. He was born June 22, 1935, to the late Chester and Irene (Frudenberger) Claridge. He was the temple oper- ator for Amax coal mine. He married Sharlene Wyatt on June 26, 1959. He was a member of the Odd Fellows #175, U.M.W.A., and First United Methodist Church of Petersburg, where he sang in the choir for over 50 years. He was also a veteran. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene; sons, Kent (Tricia) Claridge and Phil ( Jody) Claridge; grandchil- dren, Erin and Trevor Clar- idge, and Andrew Claridge, all of Petersburg; brothers, Wilbur (Peggy) Claridge, Jerry (Phyllis) Claridge, Robert (Kathleen) Clar- idge, and Clayton (Sharon) Claridge; and sisters, Naomi Hadlock, Sonny Skinner and Barbara McCormick. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 10 at 11 a.m. EDT at the First United Methodist Church in Peters- burg, with Rev. Mel Camp and Rev. Leon Pomeroy of- ficiating. Burial followed at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Mon- day, and from 9 a.m. until services on Tuesday at the church. There was an Odd Fellows service during the visitation by I.O.O.F #175 and military graveside ser- vice by V.F.W. Lodge #3587. Memorial contributions may be made to I.O.O.F. ROBERT "BOB" CUMMINES Robert (Bob) Cummines, 74, of Bowman, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at his residence. He was born July 15, 1944, in Pike County, to Frank Cummines and Oalis (Orand) Cummines. He was a truck driver for many years and the town marshal of Monroe City. He was a member of the Peters- burg Moose Lodge 1617. He enjoyed fishing on the White River and going to car races. He is survived by a sister, Hilda Schapker; nephews; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vir- ginia (Frye) Cummines; a sister, Bettye Lucas; and a brother, Bruce Colvin. No visitation or funer- al services will take place. Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. RICHARD "RICK" McDERMOT T Richard "Rick" McDer- mott, 62, of Otwell, went to his heavenly home on Oc- tober 8, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Jasper. He was born on October 13, 1954, at Lake Charles, La., to June McDermott Brooks and Gene McDer- mott On September 18, 1976, he married the love of his life, Jill (Rhoderick)Mc- Dermott. He was a graduate from Petersburg High School Class of 1972 and a gradu- ate from Oakland City Col- lege. He was a retired Boil- ermaker and member of the local union 374. He was a former member of UMWA. Rick was also a founder and lead guitarist of numerous bands. He enjoyed solitude while fishing. He also spent a great deal of time tinker- ing on automobiles with his son; together they were able to rebuild Johnathan's first car, which was a 1977 Fire- bird. One of his other many passions was assisting his wife with rescuing home- less and abandoned dogs over the years; several of which were made their pets and were very dear to both of them. He is survived by his wife, Jill McDermott; son, Johna- than (Karen) McDermott; mother, June Brooks; broth- er, Dan Brooks; and several close friends who were sup- portive through his illness. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Brooks; and sister, Valerie Zimmerman. There will be a Cele- bration of Life at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut St., Washing- ton. The family will be re- ceiving guests from 4:00 p.m. until service time. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Steve Whitehead; daughters, Sta- ci Morrow, of Crane, and Ti- na Hasenour, of Jasper; four grandchildren; a sister, Bon- nie Mason, of Winslow; and a brother, Ronnie Sills, of Oakland City.
