C-2 Church Wednesday, October 11, 2017 The Press-Dispatch ah 31:13). How does it happen? By looking in faith to God. He has not abandoned us and He has plans for our future. He can even give us an opti- mistic spirit—somewhat like the Englishman, that was heard about during World War II, who stood looking at the deep hole in the ground where his bombed-out home had once stood. She has a favorite cat house that she claims in the corner. Olivia is a short haired tabby with plush gray and white fur, long white whiskers, one gold eye and one green eye that gives her a mysterious appearance. Remember those on our prayer list, the shut ins and our lost loved ones. The presence of the al- mighty Lord God terrified the Hebrews at Mount Sinai. Moses, however, reminded them that they need not cow- er before Him for He loved them. Nevertheless, they did need to take seriously how He wanted them to wor- ship Him and not the idols of the people around them. Someone has said that when faith is strong, trou- bles become trifles. That doesn't mean our troubles aren't real, or that we act as if they didn't exist. God takes them seriously—so serious- ly that He sent Jesus Christ into the world to deal with their cause, which is sin, but just as Jesus triumphed over death, so He helps us triumph over trouble. We needed some rain and the Lord provided. Sunday, Rev. Pancake's message was from Ephesians 6:10 on the subject of "Evil." God brings us light, but man- kind continues to want to live in darkness. Therefore, there is so much evil and wicked- ness in the world today. So what defense do we have against evil? We have the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us to put on the whole armor of God. Remember to put on your armor each day to pro- tect your soul from evil. We will celebrate Pas- tor Appreciation month on Sunday, October 15. We are thankful every day. October 16 is Boss' Day. Be nice to those who help you either at work or at home. We are starting a Wednes- day night service for the next 18 weeks. "For the Lord heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners" (Psalm 69:33, K JV ). Remember to pray for those on the prayer list and also remember "Jesus is a way maker. Thought for the week: "People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God be- longs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never en- ter it. And he took the chil- dren in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them" (Mark 10 :13-16). Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week.
