C O M S O C I E T Y & C U L T U R E 1 2 3 4 5 6 THE PARTY Storms from Hurricane Harvey didn't stop Austinites from coming out to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas at the JW Marriott. In fact, the 13th annual Ice Ball was the most successful yet, raising more than $650,000 to help the mentoring program for 1,000 area children. THE SCENE e black-tie event kicked off the city's social season in true style. e always elegant Christine and Blake Absher, who served as gala chairs, welcomed distinguished guests and donors. KVUE sports director Mike Barnes emceed the evening, while Gail Stallings served as auctioneer. THE HIGHLIGHTS Beautiful ice sculptures set the tone, while guests reveled in fun fundraisers, including a Diamonds Direct raffle and mystery boxes filled with Kendra Scott jewelry. Instead of a dinner bell, the Memphis Train Revue played the guests into the ballroom for the dinner and auction portion of the night.
