Trailblazer 5K set for Aug. 12 Generations, a program of Vincennes University, will host its annual Trail- blazer 5K on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the VU track, located at the corner of Chestnut Street and Red Skelton Boulevard. The early bird registra- tion fee was $ 30 through Friday, July 28. Later en- try fees are $ 35. Those who wish to support Generations but would prefer not to run may register as a 'phan- tom runner' and quali- fy for a goody bag and t- shirt. Categories include ages 12 and under, 13-19, 20 -29, 30 -39, 40 -49, 50 -59, 60 -69, and 70 and over. Awards will be presented in each category. Following the Trailblaz- er 5K will be a free half- mile Fun Run for children. All proceeds bene- fit Generations, Area 13 Agency on Aging and Dis- ability, a program of Vin- cennes University. All-Sports Pass available at Pike Central High School Individuals planning on attending a large number of regular season sports contests at Pike Central High School during the 2017-18 school year can save money on admission fees by purchasing the All-Sports Pass. The All-Sports Pass, which is good for all regu- lar season home events at Pike Central High School, costs $70 for adults and $50 for students and se- niors. A family package is available, if all passes are purchased at the same time. Fans must purchase two adult passes at the regular price and the stu- dent passes for students in the same family are $10 each – a savings of $40 per student pass. All-Sports Passes are available at the Pike Cen- tral High School front of- fice from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The All-Sports Pass will be good for entry into varsity and junior varsity football games, volleyball, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' basketball, wrestling, swimming and all spring sports. Petersburg Kiwanis Golf Scramble set for September 9 The Petersburg Kiwan- is Golf Scramble will be on Saturday, Sept. 9, starting at 9 a.m., at the Prides Creek Golf Course. Sign-ups are now being accepted at Prides Creek Golf Course. The cost is $40 per person or $160 for a four-person team. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Mike Mosby .............................................................. 3 Otwell youth member of state champion Chuck Harmon Junior League Baseball team Joah Horrall, who lives in Otwell, and his teammates on the Washington-based Chuck Harmon 14U Junior League Baseball team ad- vanced to the Central Re- gion Tourney at Fort Wayne after winning the Indiana State Championship with a 7-4 victory over Indianapolis Broad Ripple on Monday, Ju- ly 31, in Washington. During pool play, Chuck Harmon 14U squad defeated Merrillville 15 -8, Indianapo- lis Broad Ripple 5 -0 and New Albany 7-6. In the semifinal against Chet Waggoner from South Bend, the Washington boys won 14-6. The Chuck Harmon 14U team dropped its first three games in the Central Re- gional Tournament, losing 8 -5 to Michigan on Satur- day, Aug. 5, 11-0 to Illinois on Sunday, Aug. 6, and 8 -3 to Kentucky on Monday, Aug. 7.
