Anyone wishing to join the guild may contact Ann Jorden at 812-631-3919. Heartland Half Marathon in need of volunteers - Are you looking for a fun service project the whole family can participate in? The Heartland Half Mara- thon committee is in need of volunteers for this year's Heartland Half Marathon. The event is scheduled to take place during Labor Day Weekend on Saturday, September 2 in Jasper. The events will include a half marathon, 5K, and team challenge. Volunteers are needed for registration in the morn- ing and afternoon on Friday, September 1 and during the race on Saturday, which will begin at 7:30 a.m. Volunteers generally work in pairs or small groups, and children/teens can also help when paired with an adult. Volunteers also receive a free T-shirt. The majority of the proceeds from this year's race will be given to the Phillip R. Dawkins Heart & Vascu- lar Center at Memorial Hospital to be utilized for new integrative medicine services provided to cardiac pa- tients. Ten percent of the proceeds will go towards the DC Multisport Endowment to ensure future stability of the organization and to continue in its efforts to give towards worthy causes.
