BEST POKE PALACE Poke Express It seems there's a new poke place on every corner across the Valley, but for us the choice is still easy. If only it were as simple deciding between Poke Express' spicy avocado, sweet chili and wasabi ahi options. 6555 W. Craig Road, 702-639-0500; 19 S. Stephanie St., 702-778-3352. BEST TRANSPLANTED REGIONAL FAVORITE Giordano's Vegas has tremendous pizza but not a lot of Chicago deep-dish options. That's where this historic chain comes in, dropping cheesy tomato bombs all over the Strip and giving locals more reason to hit the Boulevard. Grand Bazaar Shops at Bally's, 702-850-2420. BEST NEW FRENCH ESCAPE La Maison de Maggie The doting, affable Mag- gie is the French aunt you never had, and she's import- ing French fl ours for her handmade crêpes, imparting an authenticity unavailable anywhere else in the Valley. Experience a slice of southern France in the middle of the desert. 3455 S. Durango Drive, #112, 702-823-4466. BEST STRIP ARRIVAL Momofuku How could such a long-antici- pated restaurant possibly live up to the hype? With killer ramen, bacon and kimchi broiled oysters, and beautiful bo ssäm covering your table, plus a spicy fried chicken sandwich on the late-night menu begging you to come back. Cosmopolitan, 702-698-2663. MOST INVENTIVE COFFEE SHOP Bad Owl This Henderson hangout dis- tinguishes itself from many southeastern competitors by paying homage to Harry Potter while whisking up magical caffeinated potions. 10575 S. Eastern Ave. #160, 702-483-3331 BEST BRISKET Fox Smokehouse How much do we love the fl avor-packed smoked meats at this 4-year-old 'cue house? Enough to trek out to Boul- der City on the regular to devour them—and enough to bring Dan Fox's melt-in-your- mouth brisket to our own table last Christmas. 1007 Elm St., 702-489-2211. BEST NEIGHBORHOOD ARRIVAL Andre's Bistro Locals fi nally got an answer to the question: What would it be like if a fantastic, French fi ne-dining restaurant jumped ship from the Strip to a neighborhood? Andre's got a bit more casual and low- ered prices, too. 6115 S. Fort Apache Road, 702-798-7151. C O V E R S T O RY WEEKLY | 07.13.17 BEST COFFEEHOUSE Sambalatte Whether you frequent the one on Jones, the OG in Boca Park or fi nd yourself at the Monte Carlo needing a pick me up, Sambalatte is a Vegas institution, bringing European coffee- house fl air—and rainbow-colored lattes—to the caffeine-loving masses. Multiple locations, 2017 BEST SUSHI SPOT I Love Sushi This Anthem- adjacent raw-fi sh hub has a devoted following, and for good reason: The vibe is lively, the sushi chefs are fun and the food is consistently satisfying. Whether you grab a solo seat at the bar or a table with friends, you know you'll leave smiling. 11041 S. Eastern Ave. 702-990-4055. BEST TACO SHOP Roberto's Taco Shop Roberto's is less a taco shop, more a post-party Vegas institution, but Weekly readers love these inescapable, deep-fried, meat-fi lled treasures at any time of day or night. Multiple locations, BEST VEGAS CHEF Chris Santos at Beauty & Essex He's only been a Vegas chef for a year, since he brought the hip, social B&E to the Cosmopolitan. But you probably love Santos for his terrifi c turns on Food Network's Chopped as much as for his fun, fl a- vorful food. Cosmopolitan, 702-737-0707. (Mikayla Whitmore/Staff)
