Ladies gathered at the Log Ends Farm Bed and Breakfast just east of Petersburg, Indiana for the first an- nual Women's Learning Circle. This event was a hosted by the Pike and Gibson County SWCDs and was free for any women landowners or producers to attend. Started by an organi- zation called Women- 4theLand, the Women's Learning Circles are events specific tailored to the female landowner or farmer. An Iowa study found that women landowners and farmers have a strong connec- tion to conser vation and land stewardship. They are deeply committed to healthy farmland, farm families and rural communities. However, they may not be aware of existing resources that can help them. Women4theLand (W4L) is a partnership of agricultural and natural resource conser vation agencies and organiza- tions working together to provide information, networking, education and resources to Indiana women landowners and farmers. Wabash River Float Trip slated for August 12 Relax and enjoy a float trip down the Wabash River on August 12. Your journey will begin at Harmonie State Park and ending at Dog- town Ferr y boat launch. This 10.5 mile float trip will include an educational stop and lunch at the comple- tion. Participants may bring their own equipment or rent canoes, paddles and life vests. Registration is $10. Canoes can be rented for an additional $25. SCHEDULE • Registration at 7:30 am. • Launch at 8 a.m. The trip should take 4-5 hrs. • Shuttle back to Harmonie State Park available after ever yone finishes. Re-registration ends August 4.
