Gabe Stanley Liam Brown Hanna White Juliana Garcia, Grace Thornton Page 7 May 26, 2017 Newsworthy Seniors Tarryn Shanahan Gabe Stanley G race Thornton, pictured on the right, said her favorite part of art is "the fact that you can express things that words don't describe." She also mentioned that she wanted to be an artist since kindergarten, but "only recently have I taken it seriously, like studying the skills it takes to be great at it." Thornton's favorite medium is charcoal and pencil because it's just black and white. She said, "It's simple, yet you can express vibrant stuff." Thornton also mentioned that, "It's usually hard to come up with an idea unless you're feeling an emotion or you've had a certain experi- ence." Juliana's favorite part of art is that "you get to do what you want." She then continued with, "there's really no boundaries because it's everyone's interpretation of it. Garcia will be attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to study Agricultural Science with a concentration in Horticulture to hopefully become a florist. She said, "I will be able to be creative in some way and floral design allows me to do that." If she doesn't go into floral, she would like to become a high school AG advisor. "The Earth without art is just Eh..." T arryn Shanahan's favorite part of AG Mechanics is "being able to know how to learn a trade outside of school and to be able to learn a skill that is easy to get certi- fied in it and get a job." Shanahan plans go to Treasure Valley Community College to attain a bachelors in a psychology major. She then went on to say that her favorite part of welding is that, "it's intense. It's not just sitting at a desk and writing in a book. It's dealing with electricity so it's kind of dangerous, which makes it fun." "It's intense. AP Art AG Mechanics AG Mechanics AG Mechanics AG Mechanics H anna White's favorite part of AG Mechanics is "learning different aspects of each type of welding. I also enjoy being one of the only females in the class and shining." She said that her teacher probably recommended her because she stands out in the class as a female and a senior. White plans on starting her business called All Around Gland Fabrication. It's a female based welding company. "I stand out in the class as one of the few fe- males and the fact that I shine..." G abe Stanley has been involved with AG Mechanics for four years. When he was asked what his favorite part of the class is that he enjoys the shop environment more than the classroom environment. He said, "I can be myself." Then he con- tinued with "I wanted to learn mechanics in general and I feel like personally I would gain more knowledge in here and it could be applied for something that could actually make a difference." "The knowledge I gain in here could be beneficial and make a difference..." "I'm always on task and I work really hard on all projects..." L iam Brown's favorite part of AG Mechanics is the fact that "it's very hands on and there's always something to do. Mr. Pritchard is also a very cool teacher." Brown will be attending Butte to get an AA in natural resources then go into fish and game. He wants to become a game warden in Texas.
