MILWAUKEE — Taking inspiration from its last production, "The Other Place" by Sharr White, Next Act Theatre will pres- ent the third annual Community Youth Project at 7 p.m. March 27 at its home, 255 S. Water St., in Walker's Point. The project, Milwaukee Minds, which focuses on memory, will feature students from Bradley Tech High School, Milwaukee High School of the Arts and Ronald Reagan IB High School. "The Other Place" is a drama about a brilliant research scientist who discovers she contacted the disease of her field of study, Alzheimer's Over the course of 10 weeks, students were instructed by professional actor and teaching artist Marti Gobel. Students heard from guest lecturers, connected with mem- bers of their community, and conducted their own research and interviews. Through the use of movement, storytelling, interactive scene work and interviewing community members, the students are cre- ating their own performance art pieces. Two classrooms of students at Ronald Reagan IB High School have worked under the umbrella of applied theatre to explore and demonstrate how family, friends, and caregivers struggle and deal with relation- ships with an individual suffering from Alzheimer's. Students have written four original scenes. Students from Bradley Tech High School have been using seven-word stories to explore and demonstrate the types of mem- ory and what it means to forget, reflecting conversations with community members. Students from Milwaukee High School of the Arts have choreographed and will per- form several movement-based pieces to demonstrate various aspects of memory. Research has included exploration of the emotions and actions of a healthy brain versus an Alzheimer's-affected brain. The presentation is open to the public. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased by call- ing 414-278-0765 or visiting www.nextact.org. 16 • Milwaukee County Post • March 17, 2017 WILLS, TRUSTS, POWERS OF ATTORNEY, PROBATE Pre and post death planning by a professional with over 40 years of experience.
