Bluffer Staff Pick 'The Incredibles' (2004) Page 5 February 17, 2017 Arts and Entertainment Stephanie Pena Staff Writer Unique and amazing remake! 'Resident Evil: e Final Chapter' intrigues viewers with great action 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' starring Milla Jovovich, is a fantasy/science fiction R rated film, and was released on January 27, 2017 in the United States. 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter', directed by Paul W.S. Anderson is the sixth movie in the Resident Evil series. The movie stars Milla Jovovich as Alice, who is the main character of the whole series. Actress Ruby Rose made an appearance in this film as Abigail, she is part of a group of survivors in Raccoon City. In this group, there is also Claire, played by Ali Larter, from the previous films. Actor William Levy also stars in this movie as Christian, another survivor. There were two scenes that really stuck in my mind and one of them was when the group of survivors come together to fight off hundreds and hundreds of zombies. There's a lot of intensity in this scene and the way it ends is mind blowing. Suddenly, everything goes down in f lames and it's quite the sight. Of course, this wouldn't be much of a thriller without some heartbreaking deaths. Which brings me to my second most memorable scene. Towards the end, Alice and some survivors set off to reach the innermost interior of the hive where some characters don't make it. When Alice fails to save somebody, she doesn't have time to mourn over them, but only because she doesn't stop to show her grief it doesn't mean that their death doesn't affect her. Milla Jovovich amazingly portrayed the honest feelings of guilt and regret somebody would have felt when not being able to save another. This was an action/thriller movie, from Alice being tied to a tank while she was being chased by zombies to her finally finding out her true purpose and reality. It couldn't have been a better plot. The movie gave a great explanation to how everything started. It showed how wanting to do good can sometimes lead to chaos or in this case the end of the world. Before this film, I disliked the Red Queen because on several occasions she tried to kill Alice, but after watching this film I realize her purpose goes beyond what I ever imagined. Some others and I both agree that Resident Evil was intensely interesting from the very first second it started. We found it to answer questions we didn't even know we had. I highly recommend this film. If you have been a fan of the previous films, 'The Final Chapter' will not disappoint you. It is intriguing and it not only brings a completely new story line, but it also keeps making you want to know more. 'VHS Cam' Too young to have lived through the 80s? Recapture your non-existent memories by shooting terrible awesome videos" is the intriguing tag line for the unique and retro camera application 'VHS Camcorder' ($2.99, for iOS & Android). 'VHS Camcorder' (abbreviated as 'VHS Cam'), developed by software company Rarevision, gives you the ability to record videos that emulate the aesthetics of a camcorder from the 1980s. Its vintage, adjustable effects such as date, static/grain level, title cards and resolution (wide screen or 4:3 like a true VHS tape) make your videos look like a battered VHS tape that sat in storage for 30 years. In a sense, your videos will look so "bad" that they become great. The $2.99 price tag for 'VHS Cam' is well worth the money; the accuracy of looking like a true VHS tape in real time combined with the countless hours of fun you'll have making cheesy short films with your friends is essentially priceless. I've had this app since August 2015 and even had a chat with the one of the developers over Facebook the same month, during the time the app quickly rose up the charts for "Best Paid Apps" in the iOS App Store. Although he has since deleted his Facebook and I can no longer remember his name, I still have our conversation. He excitedly stated, "If I say so myself, it isn't just some filter. The app's concept makes my heart jump with excitement, implying that I'm now able to make a lot of great videos with it -hell, even cram my entire memory card full of them." Averaging at 4 stars on the iOS App Store with over 600 reviews, the app has been well received over the course of nearly 2 years, with many happy nostalgic users raving about quality and the memories it brings. 'Dustlands: Blood Red Road' by Moira Young is a perfect post-apocalyptic read that is a refreshing and invigorating story distinctly different from other dystopian and young-adult novels. 'Blood Red Road' is set in the "Wrecker" civilization crawling with thieves, spies and amoral people, and the land is run by a corrupt king. The main character, Saba, is an eighteen year-old girl who lives in a wasteland called Silverlake with her father, younger sister Emmi, and twin brother Lugh, and Fresh story line and incredible characters. Great classic with an interesting plot!!! Throughout the ages, numerous stories have been told about people or things with supernatural abilities. However, I believe that one we all watched and remember is a movie created in 2004 about a family of superheroes: 'The Incredibles.' This movie takes place in the city of Metroville, a town always thriving with crime. However, Mr. Incredible, a.k.a Bob Parr, and Elastigirl, a.k.a Helen Parr, ultimately fight crime and put the danger at rest. Unfortunately, the town bans s u p e r h e r o e s , and Bob has to become an office worker and Helen, a stay at home wife. The two famous superheroes end up marrying each other and having three kids. Violet is there only daughter; she is able to turn invisible and make a force field to block objects. Then there are the other two, more rambunctious, children; Dash is there second oldest child, and he is super quick, and Jack Jack, the baby, is a shapeshifter. After being in cover for so long without being able to use their powers, an unexplainable horror pops up on a remote island. Mr. Incredible accepts the mission; however, he gets in trouble, and the rest of his f a m i l y , except for J a c k J a c k , m u s t t o o c o m e o u t o f h i d i n g to help save their father. This movie is definitely in my top ten favorite movies. Despite it being old and directed toward a younger audience, the plot and animation is absolutely fantastic. Everyone who put time into making this movie truly put in his or her best effort. If I had to pick my favorite character in that movie, I would have to say it's Dash. He is just really funny, always finding new forms of trouble and I like the idea of having super speed. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a time to just relax and have a good time. Now for the past few months, there has been rumor that Pixar Animation Studios will be releasing a sequel coming out that is also directed towards 'The Incredibles: The Incredibles 2. The sequel is planned to come out on June 15, 2018, and I'm very excited for it to come out. Bryce Stephenson Staff Writer 'Jason Bourne' Katie Louisell Staff Writer Nice app with solid effects! "...is a thrilling and compelling novel that captures its readers..." 'Jason Bourne,' a PG-13 thriller/action movie, was directed by Paul Greengrass. 'Dustlands Blood Red Road' thrills recaptures The Inquisitr.com has salient plot 'Jason Bourne' is the final movie in the Bourne series. Jason Bourne worked for a Cia Special Activities Division and was sick of remembering all the horrible things he had done so he instated himself into a program called Treadstone where you forget who you are and gain a new identity. In the beginning of Jason Bourne he has isolated himself and is the champion of a bare knuckle fighting ring where he typically wins by knocking his opponent out with one punch. A hacker named Nicky contacts Bourne telling him about the CIA's top secret operations about Treadstone and his father's involvement. Nicky tries to meet Bourne in Athens. They try to dodge CIA agents sent to kill them, but Nicky gets injured and gives Bourne the key to the files. Wanting to find the answers about his past and family, Bourne locates Dassault in Berlin. Decrypting the files, Bourne discovers that his father, Richard Webb, was an analyst for the CIA and was involved with the creation of the original Treadstone program. The rest of the movie is action packed with Bourne outsmarting CIA agents and learning about his mixed history. You need to pay attention to understand and appreciate the movie, but it is a thrilling conclusion to the entire Bourne series. I could repeatedly watch the Bourne series over and over. I highly recommend this movie the plot is well thought out, it is non stop action, and Matt Damon is an incredible actor. Easton Ross Staff Writer Wonderful way to end the series!!!!!!!!!! she could care less about the outside world as long as she has Lugh. When four black-cloaked horsemen come to Silverlake and kidnap Lugh, Saba and Emmi set out on a journey to find Lugh before it's too late. As Saba journeys to find Lugh, she finds in herself a warrior who perseveres through kidnapping, cage fighting and detrimental loss. Kidnapped by Mr. and Mrs. Pinch, Saba and Emmi slave away at work while Saba must cage- fight in order to survive. Through this she meets Jack and a band of girl revolutionaries named the Free Hawks, and they escape together in order to free Lugh and bring justice to the corrupt king. The king has his citizens under his thumb with a hypnotizing drug called chaal, and there's dark secrets he and his henchmen the Tonton are hiding. With the Free Hawks and Jack, Saba gathers together more rebels in order to rescue Lugh and other prisoners. Saba soon discovers that her destiny is part of something much bigger: civil war. This book is an amazing read that is fresh and new to a genre that is heavily overdone with uniform plot lines. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in intense action and adventure, romance, and dystopian novels. 'Blood Red Road' is part of a trilogy followed by 'Rebel Heart' and 'Raging Star'. 'Blood Red Road' is thrilling and compelling novel that captures its readers with intense action, and sets the bar for fellow young adult authors. For fellow readers, keep your fingers crossed for a potential movie adaption! Caden Moniz Staff Writer aesthetic
