BY VISHAKA ROBINSON B lue is no longer taboo. This fall's fashion shows were thick with aqua-hued lids and nails. From navy smoky eyes at DVF and indigo cat eyes at Anna Sui to inky blue digits at Karen Walker, blue finally seems to be rivaling red as the statement shade of 2012. "Blue is definitely making its presence known this year," says Boston-born makeup artist Dani Wagener. The key she says is "sticking to richer shades and using the color as an accent in the lash line and/or under eye." She also suggests swooping a richer, deeper shade of blue up to the crease on the lid, paired with some taupe or bronze. "It's a beautiful contrast without looking garish." The recent profusion of putty shades for eyes and nails is a boon for blue. The combination of the two, according to Wagener, looks "modern, yet rustic and sophisticated."
