Artistry celebrates Bay View community MILWAUKEE — Chris Vincent, owner of Murals by Design, has completed the second mural in South Shore Park, 2900 S. Shore Drive. "I am grateful for our partnership with MillerCoors and their sup- port of projects that make Milwaukee a better place," Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said. "Their commitment to water health and water stewardship has re-ener- gized Bradford Beach and now South Shore Terrace. In addition, with these murals, we offer yet another point of pride in the com- munity." "This beautiful mural tells a story of the rich his- tory of Bay View," County Board Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic said. "We are a diverse community with great workers' roots and beautiful architecture, as the mural so perfectly depicts." An event was held Wednesday in the park to celebrate the project. Celebrating the Bay View community, the 50-by- 14-foot mural features his- toric buildings viewed from Lake Michigan and a ban- ner proclaiming, "Bay View Creative Neighborhood Community." Locals will recognize the South Shore Yacht Club, Beulah Brinton House, Kneisler's White House and Puddler's Hall. Details include marina flags, an anchor and the Queen's Cup trophy, which is awarded at the South Shore Yacht Club. As an homage to the 14,000 workers fighting for an eight-hour workday dur- ing the Bay View Massacre, the mural's lower right cor- ner is filled with the image of a campaign coin refer- encing "8 hours labor, 8 hours recreation, 8 hours rest." "Working in Bay View for the past month has been a great experience," Vincent said. "This is such a creative community, with wonderful, positive, down- to-earth neighbors." 2 • Milwaukee County Post • October 21, 2016 Mural artist completes South Shore work Volume 22, issue number 42 The Milwaukee Post (ISSN 1544-1776) is published weekly by Conley Media, Milwaukee County 3397 South Howell Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53207 For all departments call: 414-744-6370 News display and advertising FAX: 414-375-7070 Classifieds: 800-762-6219 ext. 5005 Classified Fax: 262-334-6252 For display advertising inquires: 414-744-6370 Barry Richards: Advertising Representative — ext. 13 brichards@conleynet.com Julia LeGath: Advertising Representative — ext. 17 jlegath@conleynet.com Jim Baumgart Advertising Sales Director — 262-513-2621 jbaumgart@conleynet.com For editorial questions: Dan Muckelbauer Editor 262-513-2626 dmuck@conleynet.com POSTMASTER: Send address changes to the Milwaukee Post 3397 S.
