College Ave., more than a few South Shore residents wondered what would happen to the build- ing. The nonprofit Youth In Motion South Shore Center's opening Saturday as a fitness center with a refreshed look along with addi- tional recreation and education offerings answers that question. "It fills a void and a need that we've had for a year and a half," Mayor John Hohenfeldt said. "They do all the things that the YMCA did and more. "One of the big assets in that facility is the swimming pool. It's a void in the South Shore." For a time, it looked like the facility might have been turned into a church after the YMCA's closing Jan. 31, 2015, 43 years after it opened on the site serving Cudahy and surrounding commu- nities.
