BY CHUCK ANSBACHER From mop tops on the Ed Sullivan Show to candy ravers at Electric Daisy Carnival, fashion and music have always shared a lane on the self-expression highway—an adage that's truer than ever in the Instagram era. Enter Natalie Bergman, one half of the Chicago-born, LA-based, brother-sister-fronted Wild Belle, who are currently touring in support of Dreamland, their sophomore album. Rebellious yet rooted, she's been lauded for her Macy Gray meets M.I.A. rasp, and racked up followers for her art-inspired style. It began in Streeterville: The Bergmans were a musical family, with dance tracks constantly spinning on the record player. "My mom loved Prince, George Clinton, and Michael Jackson." He ain't heavy: "My brother is one of the most inspiring people I know, so it's a real gift that I can look up to someone I work with regularly." Fine arts: Bergman cites Jean-Michel Basquiat and Cy Twombly as major influ- ences. "Last time I was in Chicago I got a chance to go to the Art Institute. There's some beautiful stuff by Twombly." Blurred line: Where does the style icon end and the songstress begin? "I've managed to create a universe that is all very in sync," she says. "We're all our own artwork." . Siren of style: Chicago native Natalie Bergman is known as much for her effortless boho-chic aesthetic as for the catchy sound af Wild Belle, her duo with brother Elliot.
