Malcore is an associate vice presi- dent and real estate agent at Shorewest Realtors, and has worked out of Shorewest's Brookfield and Waukesha office at 21675 E. Moreland Blvd. in Waukesha for 37 years. Malcore plies her trade selling homes in the Brookfield -Elm Grove area, and her livelihood is dependent on being able to articulate why the area is one of the best in southeast Wisconsin. "When I talk about Brookfield, it's easy for me," Malcore said. "I live there." Malcore and her husband and fami- ly have lived in Brookfield for 38 years. The time-honored and time- tested truth of location, location, location helps explain the area's appeal. Malcore invokes echoes of her past when selling the Brookfield-Elm Grove area. She and her husband moved to Brookfield for a job transfer, and she said the location is ideal under those circumstances. "A lot of different things that affect our sales," Malcore said. "You've got great access going east and west — it's centrally located in the metro area. Whether they work in Milwau- kee or fly out of the airport, it's a cen- tral location." Average travel time from Brookfield and Elm Grove to most of the Mil- waukee metro area is 20 to 30 min- utes, but there is more to the area than the ability to leave quickly. Malcore said she routinely finds herself touting the benefits of the Elmbrook School District, which encompasses most of the city and Town of Brookfield and Elm Grove. Small portions of both the city and town of Brookfield are in the Wauke- sha School District. Malcore said Elmbrook is highly regarded, and boasts some of the area's best academic achievement. The district is consistently high on "Best Of" lists and in various rank- ings of school districts in Wisconsin. "I know when I moved to Brookfield I did not have children, but being I was a Realtor before I moved here I knew a good school district is impor- tant," Malcore said. "A good school district is going to be good for resale." In addition to excellent schools, the Brookfield-Elm Grove area contains more positives that appeal to poten- tial homebuyers. Malcore said shopping is conve- nient at any number of retail and commercial centers — Brookfield Square, Capitol Drive, downtown Elm Grove and, soon, The Cor ners of Brookfield at Barker Road and Inter- state 94. The variety of restaurants and entertainment venues are also appeal- ing. Restaurants include Rewined in Elm Grove, Portillos in the city of Brookfield and Vino Cappucino in the Town of Brookfield. Malcore said the Sharon Lynne Wil- son Center for the Arts, a regional cultural destination, offers a variety of programming. There is also a wealth of parks and open space, and municipal departments in each com- munity offer a wealth of activities — outdoor movies, classes for adults and children, pools, bike trails and more. "I think for families it's about the schools," Malcore said. "It's about parks and recreation. It's about amenities and convenience in today's world. I think the area has a lot to offer, and it meets a lot of different people's needs. "All of this makes it very attractive, and within an easy commute of the city. It's an easy sell." Location, offerings, make Brookfield a place to be Charles Auer/Freeman Staff Brookfield is known for its tree-lined streets and quiet subdivisions. Beyond that, though, strong schools, entertainment and dining options and easy access to the larger metro area are among the selling points that draw people to the area.
