FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF With the gorgeous Valerie Umana from Regan Communications at the opening of the Revere Hotel Boston Common Nobody's meatballs are as good as the ones Dante de Magistris makes from his grandmother's recipe—except maybe mine! We devoured his cuisine at our event with the haute kitchens creator SieMatic. this spring really stood out. Playing poker with Annie Duke and the great bluffers at my table, like CitationAir's David Richter and artist Seth Minkin, made raising money for Boston Children's Hospital the most fun fundraiser yet. Then there was the Nantucket Wine Festival, which reached new heights this year with top cuisine by chefs such as the Four Seasons' Brooke Vosika and American Seasons' Michael LaScola— and, of course, the incredible vintages. While Drew Barrymore introduced her Italian-made Pinot Grigio there, other wine luminaries made their mark with debuts and tastings, such as Cyril Brun, the winemaker for Veuve Clicquot, Laurent Drouhin of Maison Joseph Drouhin, and Paul Chevalier representing Château d'Esclans, who could barely keep up with demand for his dry rosés. Event founder Denis Toner outdid himself. We were glad to see gourmands Jim and Alina Apteker, Peter and Elizabeth Georgantas, Sara Underwood and her husband, Michael Felger, Kristan Fletcher and husband David Khtikian, as well as Jill Karp, Mark and Joyce Two events among the many amazing ones facebook.com/boston-common and on Follow me on Facebook at bostoncommon-magazine.com. Not to be forgotten was my camera-loving pug, Mathilde, who charmed everyone when she rocked a Dannijo necklace with vibrant Swarovski crystals from Dress. You might not think a 6 AM shoot on Boston Harbor could be enjoyable, but medical researcher David Weinstock and photographer Eric Levin has us in stitches while we were shooting our "Before the Dawn" piece—and fishing a little too close to the dock. Here's hoping that this sense of amusement infuses your summer, too.
