TEHAMA - THE MAGAZINE is a special publication of Publisher Greg Stevens Editor Chip Thompson Production Manager Sandy Valdivia 545 Diamond Ave., Red Bluff, CA 96080 (530) 527-2151, www.redbluffdailynews.com May 2016, TEHAMA - THE MAGAZINE 3 Contents Volunteers in Law Enforcement .....................4 Arts in Tehama County ..................................6 Tehama County Arts Council .........................7 Tehama County Photo Club ..........................8 Tehama County Concert Series ...................10 Red Bluff Art Association .............................12 The State Theatre, Red Bluff .......................13 Rotary Clubs of Tehama County ..................16 Kiawanis .......................................................18 Family Counseling and Hope Chest ............20 Expect More Tehama ...................................22 Legacy of 1967 Community Congress ........24 Los Molinos Parade and PlayDay ...............27 Too much of a good thing? When we first hatched the theme for this edition of the Tehama the Magazine — Self-sufficiency, volunteers taking care of their own — it seemed like a natural for our community. Certainly there is no shortage of examples of folks recognizing a need and stepping up to get the job done for the community. Ideas rushed in and within a few minutes we could have filled two or three editions with stories of good works being done every day in Tehama County. The realities of publication, though, meant we would need to trim the list to a more manageable number, and even with that, we've struggled to fit in even the shortened list. For the sake of broad representation, we selected groups that improve the community through working with children, the arts, major projects, education, public safety and counseling. While we're proud to highlight the groups featured in this edition, we recognize the omission of major volunteer efforts such as the Dairyville Community Club, Tehama County CattleWomen and Cattlemen, Soroptimist International of Red Bluff, Exchange Clubs in Red Bluff and Corning, Central Tehama Kiwanis, the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, Friends of the Library, Sacramento River Discovery Center, Cleaner Greener Red Bluff and too many other groups that play a role in making Tehama County the special place that it is. Perhaps a future edition will be devoted to features on the works of these and other groups. We hope you'll enjoy as much as we did learning more about your friends and neighbors who put in countless donations of time, talent and sometimes treasure to make your community the best it can be. Next time you enjoy a show at the State Theatre, stroll beneath the Cone & Kimball Clock Tower or cheer on the Fourth of July parade through Los Molinos take a moment to thank one of the hundreds of volunteers who spotted a need and put in the time an effort to create a solution.
