ALICE PEARL FOWLER Alice Pearl Fowler, 74, of Petersburg, died at 2:11 p.m., April 29, 2016, at Gold- en Living Center in Peters- burg. She was born August 19, 1941, in Pike County, to Otis and Ada (Robling) Brown. She had one brother and four sisters. Alice married Troy Fowl- er in 1976 and was a home- maker. Alice is survived by her sons, Richard Dearing, of Bicknell, Donald E. Dear- ing, of Petersburg, Noble (Cathy) Dearing, of Otwell, and Danny Dearing, of Vin- cennes; daughters, Donna Graham and Vicky Corn, of Washington. She is also sur- vived by her five grandchil- dren and eight great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy, in 1995. Visitation is today, Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 3-7 p.m. EDT at Har- ris Funeral Home. A memo- rial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Harris Funeral Home, with Rev. Ed- die Willis officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pleas- ant Ridge Cemetery. DAVID M. TRUE David Michael "Mike" True, 65, of Hazleton, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville after a long, hard-fought illness. He was born to Mary Lou (Brown) and John Dee True in Evansville on May 31, 1950. Shortly after his birth, his mother passed and he was raised by his grandpar- ents, John and Mary White. Mike attended Bosse High School in Evansville before joining the U.S. Ar- my, where he was stationed in both Vietnam and Korea. A fter leaving the service, he moved to Detroit, Mich., where he joined the police force working as a K-9 offi- cer and sharpshooter for a short time. He returned home to Evansville, where he trained and became an over-the- road truck driver, a career that would provide for his family for more than 29 years, serving most of that time with N&S Trucking in Oakland City. Mike drove all over the United States in his 18 -wheeler and won numer- ous safety awards. He was known to his truck driving buddies as "Fat Cat." Mike was a member of both the White River-Ha- zleton and Union Volunteer Fire Departments, where he drove trucks, ran the pumps and helped wherever he could lend a hand. He also earned his first responder's license during his time with the departments. His pride and joy and the lights of his life were his two children and then later in life his three grandchildren. Mike enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, listening to classic country music and watching old western movies. He was a John Wayne fanatic. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandpar- ents, stepmother Julia True, stepbrother Denny Scales, and brother-in-law and long- time friend Ronald Russell. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Judy; son John (Melissa) True, of Bruceville; daughter Mag- KENNETH E. WILLIS, SR. Kenneth E. Willis, Sr., 86, of Oakland City, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Medical Center on Wednes- day, April 27, 2016. He was born in Pike Coun- ty to Carl and Blanch (Rain- ey) Willis on June 6, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dor- othy Louise Crow, Doris Adilene Dupree, Ina Marie Burden, Ruth Anna Scott and Rose Mary Warren; and brothers, Foster Ivan Willis, Thomas Carl Willis and Ron- ald Wayne Willis. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elsie (Mei- er) Willis; daughter, Nan- cy L. Bruce, of Evansville; sons, Kenneth (Paula) E. Willis, Jr., of Oakland City, and David (Trudy) A. Wil- lis, of Somerville; grand- children, Amanda ( Jason) LINDA LOU COX Linda Lou Cox, 72, of Pe- tersburg, passed away at 5 p.m. April 28, 2016, at her home. She was born April 26, 1944, in Pike County to How- ard and Inez (Chanley) Sel- by. Linda was a homemaker, and a member of the Wom- en of Moose and VFW Aux- iliary organizations. Linda is survived by her husband James Cox; her daughters, Andrea (Ron) Wood, of Petersburg, and Stephanie ( Jeff ) Sturgill, of Gosport, Ind.; her sis- ters, Annalee Asbell, Max- ine Aikman, Patty Horrall, Marilyn Gryder and Sandy Lovell; six grandchildren and two great-grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Cox; her brothers, Boyd Selby and Kenneth Selby; and her sister, Ruth Wyatt. A memorial service was at 2 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Harris Funeral Home, with visitation preceding from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ross Williams presided over the service. Linda was laid to rest in Walnut Hills Ceme- tery. NORMA L. YOUNG Norma L. Young, 73, of Francisco, passed away at 9:40 a.m. CDT at Gibson General Hospital on Satur- day, April 30, 2016. She was born on Novem- ber 16, 1942, in Petersburg and had been living in Fran- cisco for the last eight years. Surviving are her hus- band, Eldon Lee Young, of Francisco; her son, David A. Young, of Francisco, her sis- ter, Buea Schuir, of Martins- ville; and her brother, Dan Carey, of Columbus, Ind. Preceding her in death were her sister, June Fish; and her brother, Bob Carey. Services were Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. EDT at Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow. Visitation was on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Following the service, burial was at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olympus, Ind. TAMAR A J. TR AVAGAKIAS Tamara J. Travagakias, 59, of Ft. Wayne, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Rosalee (Aldridge) Travaga- kias, brother Tony Travaga- kias; and sister, Susan Trav- agakias. Surviving are two uncles, Charlie and Nick Aldridge, of Winslow; one aunt, Judy Fredrick, of Winslow, and cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, and her brother, Elijah Edward Lane. Services were at 11 a.m. EDT, Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Harris Funeral Home, with Rev. Danny Gilley, Jr. and Pastor Mark Schlechty officiating. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Monday, May 2. She was laid to rest at Wil- liams Cemetery in Bowman. He is a Veteran of World War II and was employed by the Chrysler Corporation, the Indiana Department of Transportation and retired from Peabody Coal Co. after 28 years. He was a member of Oak- land City Masonic Lodge No. 467, the Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville, the Hadi Shrine Temple and the Gibson County Shrine Club. He served on the Hadi Shrine Hospital Staff and made over 150 trips to trans- port children to the Shrine Hospitals in St. Louis, Lex- ington, Cincinnati and Chi- cago. He was an active member of the Gibson County Dem- ocratic Party, serving many years as a precinct commit- teeman and several terms on the Barton Township Advi- sory Board. He and Elsie were the foundation upon which a large and loving family was built. Memorial Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Lamb-Basham Me- morial Chapel in Oakland City, with the Rev. Matt Ma- lin officiating. Burial was at Providence Cemetery. Visi- tation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, and from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Masonic Services were at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29. RUBY JEWEL BLAIZE Ruby Jewel Blaize, 88, of Petersburg, passed away at 10 :18 p.m., April 29, 2016, at Hillside Manor in Wash- ington. She was born on August 5, 1927, in Hazleton, Ind., to Henry Edward and Cora (Handkins) Lane. She mar- ried Hugh Blaize on August 7, 1949, and was a homemak- er and proofreader for The Press-Dispatch.
