Grab one kick-ass food writer and chef: Annie Copps. Stir in another with a nutritional flair: Louisa Kasdon. What's the dish? A Readable Feast, the first-of-its-kind cooking and cookbook city festival debuting at Boston Public Market. It's a meaningful location for Copps, a national food editor, radio host, and TV personality, and Kasdon, the CEO and founder of the nonprofit Let's Talk About Food. "The farmers markets should be our lifeblood, should be our food source," says Copps. "That's where the Readable Feast idea came from. Boston Public Market is as important as our libraries and art museums." A "best cookbook ever" awards ceremony launches the festival on Friday, along with a bash featuring local beer and wine plus specialty cocktails. On Saturday, plan on eating! Expect rotating cooking demonstrations, cookbook signings, semi- nars, and (of course) random celebrity chef sightings. "It's going to be, I hope, a yearly event," says Copps.
