Just another day in the life of a Cirque du Soleil performer… Ask Natick native Dave Locke, who travels as an acrobat in Cirque's new physics-defying performance, Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities. The show tells the story of an inventor who enters his "curious" cabinet to find a dream world that pushes the boundaries of imagination and reality, allowing him to defy the laws of time and space to reinvent his world. You'll think you're dreaming, too, once you lay eyes on the Acronet—Cirque's revolution- ary 20-by-30-foot trampoline that launches performers 30 feet into the air. Locke and his castmates don an electric array of aquatic animal costumes (the show's stylings feature a strong steampunk vibe) while somersaulting and soaring towards the big top's roof. "It's almost like I get double the airtime that I'm used to because I'm going up 30 feet and then falling 30 feet," says Locke. "There's a lot more options of what I can do in the air."
