Fishing in Tehama County anglers can choose. Notable among these are three very dif- ferent bodies of water, Square Lake, Deer Creek and Black Butte Lake. Square Lake is a tarn located in a steep hollow north of Mount Linn in the South Yolla Bolly Mountains area. As its name implies, the lake has straight shorelines that make it resemble a square. It is a good spot to find brook and rainbow trout. The lake is remote, so you'll need to con- tact the Mendocino National Forest for maps and information about vehicle travel and backcountry trekking when plan- ning a visit.
