Numbers were presented during a recent Greater Brookfield Chamber of Commerce event to back up that description, including that the retail corridor will likely generate 3,600 new jobs in the next 36 months, which does- n't include commercial jobs, Farrow said. Updates on three significant projects were given March 8 during the "Blue- mound Road Building Boom" discus- sion at DoubleTree by Hilton: The Cor- ners in the Town of Brookfield, The Cor- ridor in Brookfield and Brookfield Square Mall in Brookfield. Jeff Sachse of the Department of Workforce Development provided an economic perspective. Of every dollar spent in a community, Sachse said $0.36 will result in related spending. He said retail developments "bring income into communities that didn't exist there before." Also as more development occurs, it signals to others that the "corridor is ripe for development." Brookfield Square Mall Laine Walker, senior leasing manager for CBL, operator of Brookfield Square Mall, said in fall 2015 the mall added 19,000 square feet, which included new restaurants and stores near Sears. The next phase of expansion, phase two, will include a building wrap near Boston Store with restaurants facing Moorland Road and specialty stores on the Bluemound Road side. A parking deck on the west side of Boston Store will also be constructed, she said. The 55,000-square-foot phase two of Brookfield Square Mall will break ground during the first part of 2017 and should be completed that fall.
