Powder Puff Kicks Off With Heated Rivalries T he annual Powder Puff football game be- tween the Junior and Senior girls is the big- gest event of the week called "Coming Home." The game is on March twenty-fourth at four o'clock. There's a blacklight rally in the gym before the game starts, and it's followed by the yearly Sadies Hawkins dance later that night. N oticable tension between the two teams in competing for the win has been evident over the past weeks. The head coaches are Ryan Gam- boa and Dillion Garcia. The Juniors and Seniors have around twenty-five to thirty-five girls on each team. The girls have been working and prac- ticing for weeks, with tough and positive attitudes. The head coach for the seniors is Ryan Gamboa (be- low). When asked about the outcome of the game, he replied, "We are obviously going to win because my team is stacked and full of lean, mean, fighting machines. Our girls are fine-tuned athletes." Gam- boa has been going through plays, drills, and work- ing on football smarts. Stefanie Brunello, the senior quarterback, also has high hopes for the team, "It's a fun competition between seniors and juniors, and it gets people who wouldn't normally do sports involved." Juniors Seniors The junior head coach is Dillion Garcia (below). When asked whether or not his team will win, he said, "Obviously. My team is far superior. We have a team of winners, the seniors are going to lose." Garcia has been teaching the game and going through drills with the junior girls. Megan Boone Jr., the quarterback for the juniors, also believes they have a good chance at winning. She was asked what she looked forward to the most about the game. "Getting closer to people in my class and beating the seniors," she replied.
