While visiting the bird blind on Spizzle Creek, this Forester's Tern decided to hover almost directly above my head. They do this just before diving for fish. Terns move extremely fast, and they are a challenge to photograph. Needless to say, I was happy when it continued to hover many times, allowing me to get this stop action shot. Opposite page, top: Hooded Merganser, Toms River. The Hooded Merganser is one of the most cautious of ducks. It is extremely difficult to photograph. Each year, several come to spend a few months on Barnegat Bay behind my townhouse in Toms River. After numerous unsuccessful attempts, I was finally able to photograph a few this past year. The male seen here at take off has the famous white "hood." Opposite page, bottom: Eastern Bluebird, Toms River I titled this one "Angry Bluebird." Until last year, I had never seen a bluebird, let alone photographed one. Last year, a flock showed up in my yard along the bay in Silverton. I was very excited and spent several days shooting these beautiful birds.
