I had envisioned this shot for several years. One day, I noticed people riding horses near the first beach area. Several foxes were curious and interested in the scene. This fox followed the horses up and back from the beach. Probably tired from the experience, it climbed up on the dunes and went to sleep in the sun. This allowed me to shoot off several shots while it napped peacefully. Opposite page, top: Eyes of a Fox, Island Beach State Park. Many of the red foxes at Island Beach are used to people and will approach you. It's refreshing when one is more elusive. This is the way it should be. While walking down one of the paths to the beach, this red fox was watching me intently from behind the brush. I stopped to take a few photos and continued on my way. This may be my favorite of all my fox photos. Opposite page, bottom: Red Fox Surveys the Ocean, Island Beach State Park. It's always a treat to see a fox on the beach and near the ocean. I have photographed this one many times. It often follows me to the beach and tags along on my walks. I really enjoy nature early in the morning. Especially when it's just me and the fox or any other animal. Sometimes when I'm photographing the stars in the middle of the night, a fox has kept me company too.
