Chamber Link August 2015 12 Archway Partnership As of July 1, 2015, the Dalton-Whitfield Archway Partnership officially began its transition into becoming the fourth Archway Partnership alumni community. To mark their first commencement celebration, the Archway Partnership Executive Committee did so in conjunction with the annual Readers to Leaders' Book Blast. The Book Blast, held on July 23, is an annual event aimed at providing free books to children while introducing them to various literacy-based activi- ties. The Book Blast, which started as an Archway initiative, was kicked off with remarks by Lynn Laughter, who serves as Chair of the Archway Executive Committee; however, other members of the Executive Committee including Danny Crutchfield, Louis Fordham and Pam Partain, all spoke at the event as well. Dalton-Whitfield was selected to become an Archway Partnership community in 2009 – one of only eight partnerships in the state at any given time. Over the years, countless students and faculty have worked in conjunction with the local Executive Committee to address numerous pro- jects in three primary areas of education, the environment and the economy. As the Executive Committee works on a transition plan for moving forward they do so with an eye to the future and a focus on continued collaboration across the community. Archway Partnership
