April 2012 My Two Cents by Jim Koury, Editor Welcome to the April issue of Diveristy Rules Maga- zine. With this issue, begins the second year of its return as a digital publication. It is hard to believe that the first quarter of the year is complete already! This year should prove to be an exiciting one for Diversity Rules and for the editor! I am proud to welcome Abby Dees back to Diversity Rules. If you remember, she was the cover feature for the first digital issue in March of 2011. I am indebted to Barry Rogers, her publicist, for reaching out to me and introduc- ing me to Abby. She is a remarkable person and we surely will be hearing a lot more from her. Featured with Abby in this issue is Ruthie Al- caide. Ruthie was a member of MTV's Real World Hawaii. She is now a college lecturer who loves travel, eating and adventures. Abby and Ruthie have collaborated on a number of projects and it is an honor to have them both featured in the April issue. I welcome back my regular monthly writers; Terry Ludwig, Robert Hoffman, Milton Wend- land, Chad Justin Czelusniak, Lee Lynch, Tar- ringo Vaughn, and Donny Winter. Included in this issue are a number of inter- esting features and stories. The first is the Worldwide March for Equality. There will be marches all over the globe on April 21st to bring attention to the inequity that exists all Diversity Rules Magazine PO Box 72 James R. The March for Equal- ity is an opportunity for individuals to express their commitment to equality throughout the world. Check the list of marches for one near you and help to make a difference! Second, Eric Casaccio's film "Freak" is fea- tured again and Eric has been so kind to an- swer some questions about the film and what's coming next for him. You don't want to miss "Freak." It's a powerful story! There are other notable features included in this issue; a new book by Jason Shaw entitled, "Most Influential Gay Movies of Our Time" on page 19. Naked Boys Singing is making a revivial too and is featured on page 21. If you missed the last rendition, be sure to catch the revival show, as it appears to be an awesome show! I would be remiss if I did not throw in a bit of politics into my message! For those of you who know me personally, you are quite aware of my political fervor! This year's elections, from the President on down to Congress and some local elections, are an important crossroad in our history. The outcome of the November elections will deter- mine whether we continue forward on a pro- gressive path toward equality for all or a return to divisive politics that pit minorities against each other and accord privileges to those who have versus those who do not. Take a stand! Decide to take action and VOTE for candidates who support equality, liberty and justice for all citizens.
