It started in the twentieth century because of the Thanksgiving parades. Countries involved in this so-called "holi- day" are the United States, Canada, Mexico, India, Panama, the United Kingdom, France, and more. However, over the past few years, there has been controversy over the "holiday" and protest- ers wanting to stop it. People believe that there is unreasonable demand placed on the staff and there are also health and safety issues. So far, Black Friday has caused seven deaths and almost a hundred injuries because of people stampedes, car crashes, or disagreements over wanted items. More recently, there has been an addition of Cyber Monday to the "holiday," where the same sales are available on sites like Amazon and Walmart. Cyber Monday may be safer because there's no one stampeding through stores try- ing to get the best sale. In 2014 about 26.7 bil- lion dollars were spent during the holiday season. This has shown to be an upward trend in society. Are you going Black Friday shopping?
