music were in heaven when Boston
Symphony Orchestra music director
Andris Nelsons conducted a
performance of Mahler's Symphony
No. 8 (Symphony of a Thousand ) in
honor of Tanglewood Music Center's
75th anniversary. Nearly 400 musi-
cians participated in the celebratory
show (which was simulcast on a large
screen in Copley Square), including
the Tanglewood Festival Chorus and
the American Boychoir. Guests at the
live concert enjoyed a tented gala
dinner before the performance.
