sp tlight Grand Haven Area Public Schools Vol. 27 No. 4 W elcome to the 2015 school year! Fall and the start of school is one of my favorite times of the year. Our students, families and staff are teeming with excitement and promise of so many good things on our horizon. Personally, I am filled with anticipation for my first year supporting our students, staff, and community. I look forward to continuing to meet individuals, learning about Grand Haven and working together in the coming months and years. As many know, Grand Haven Area Public Schools will be implementing one-to-one technology across our class - rooms in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. We are grateful for our community's support of two bond propos- als that make this initiative possible. Our staff has been working diligently to ensure successful transition both in the classroom and from the technical perspective. We appreciate the time and effort of our technology department and teachers over the past year and this summer to prepare for a highly successful imple - mentation. This addition to our school district and com- munity is certain to advance and enhance the learning in our classrooms. You will also see the finished product of additions at Grand Haven High School that will provide much needed instruc - tional space to meet growing program needs in the art and fitness areas. Additionally, we have made improvements at White Pines Intermediate School with new lockers, a more secure entrance, and refurbishment of the auditori - um. We continue to work on solutions for improved traffic flow at the high school and Lakeshore Middle School and expect to make forward prog- ress over the coming year. We have many more things planned for the next eight years of our bond cycle and are working carefully to spread them over this time- line to ensure infrastructure, safety and technology needs in our buildings are in place for students moving forward. We appreciate this gift and oppor- tunity to ensure success! Collectively, we can look forward to a tremendous year for the students of the Grand Haven Area Public Schools. The experiences they will have in the classroom and beyond over these next nine months are critical to their growth and development as individuals and, ultimately, their future success. We appreciate the support that our community gives to each of our students and programs. Thank you, in advance, for your involvement and partnership with our schools.
