Gals Institute, a therapeu- tic educational workshop cre- ated and facilitated by Dean- na Marincic along with other leading professionals in ado- lescent care, will lead the dis- cussions this weekend at Loft 24, 24 S. Main St. On Aug. 22 there will be a workshop for 9- to 12-year-old girls focusing on how to keep and maintain friends in a "Mean Girl" society. On Aug. 23, there will be a workshop for 13- to 17-year-old girls on "reaching for your best self: confidence, leadership build- ing and goal setting for the upcoming school year," according to a release. "Studies show that a girl's self-esteem develops and starts to peak at age 9, so we expanded and created a one- day event to reach those younger girls," Marincic said. "I strongly believe in the preventive education and care for girls, the earlier you reach girls and help them build confidence and self- worth the less incidence of problems later in life." Marincic is opening a phys- ical clinic, Gals Institute, in Lake Country on Nov. 1. She will focus on prevention and healing for individuals and families through her prac- tice. The space will be used for support groups, Gals workshop events and therapy services. "I am looking forward to having a home base for my clients and for Gals work- shops and events," Marincic said. "We will continue to uti- lize the great resources in the community such as Loft 24 in Oconomowoc and other com- munity venues as we contin- ue to branch out of Lake Country." — Enterprise Staff Gals Institute leadership and self esteem event this weekend Submitted photo Mothers Madison Gilbert and Kathy Sauve with their children Elizabeth Gilbert and Audry Sauve participate at a mother-daughter open house sponsored by the Gals Workshop. OCONOMOWOC — The remodeling of Snap Fit- ness of Oconomowoc has been completed and includes an upgraded ventilation system, new paint colors and a mural. Snap Fitness has been located in Oconomowoc for nine years, four of those years at its current location at 1085 Summit Ave. Mason Becker, owner of the updated club, said the project included updat- ing the look of the fitness center. The interior of the facility was repainted with new colors and a new logo has been added inside the facility. "We wanted to give the club more of an upscale look, which is where our brand is heading," Beck- er said. "We have also added several new pieces of equipment since the start of the year, includ- ing new stair climber machines. They've been really popular." The owners also invest- ed in upgrading the club's heating and air conditioning system to keep up with the high vol- ume of members who fre- quent the facility, accord- ing to the announcement. An American flag mural is comprised of pictures of Snap Fitness members from around the country. www.snapfitness.com Snap Fitness of Oconomowoc completes remodel Submitted photo Waukesha GOP holds summer food drive WAUKESHA — The Republican Party of Waukesha County held its annual summer food drive in conjunction with their Pints and Politics event Aug. 7 at Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc.
