Send your info to news@vegasinc.com Western Nevada College Specialty Crop Institute and College of Southern Nevada will present a "Direct Marketing for Small Farms" workshop on Feb. 6 at the College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne Campus. Cost is $45. Lunch is included. The workshop will feature sessions on direct marketing options, such as farmers markets, farm stands, restaurants and subscription farms. Speakers will discuss effective marketing strategies, including farm branding, media relations, signs and displays, and social media opportunities. Jennifer Shelledy is interactive media director and David Graham is senior interactive media campaign manager for the interactive media division of the marketing communications agency SK+G. Jennifer Shelledy was previously interactive media specialist at the agency, and Graham was interactive media campaign manager / web analytics Stewart, Archibald & Barney LLP has merged with the practice of Brett K. Sellers CPA. Sellers previously was managing shareholder at Sellers Miles CPAs. Sellers has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Nevada for more than 20 years. SELLERS Byron Browne and Jared Green are income partners with the law firm of McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard, Wayte & Carruth LLP. Browne specializes in civil and commercial litigation and Green practices in civil litigation with an emphasis in personal injury, product defect, premises liability, general negligence and federal RICO claims. The 2012 board of directors for Dress for Success Southern Nevada have been announced. The directors, 4 their titles and their companies: Chairwoman, Paige Candee, Purdue Marion & Associates; vice chairwoman, Alisia Pulella, Cintas; treasurer, Katrina Bruce, Alternative Management; and secretary, Teri Trautwein, Cintas. Board members are: Deanna Ackerman, CFRE; Monica Coburn, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.; Calvert Collins, KLAS Channel 8; Lynda Keeton-Cardno, Stout Keeton LLC; Kimberly Miles, the Payroll Company; Shelli Ryan, Ad Hoc Communication Resources, LLC; and Stephanie Ann Vehon, Image Empowering. The Nevada System of Higher Education Desert Research Institute has received a $99,935 grant from USDA Rural Development to conduct energy audits for small rural businesses and agricultural producers in northwestern Nevada and northeastern California. The program will focus on rural dairies in the region. Chris Fava is vice president of food and beverage and chief operating officer at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas, responsible for the food and beverage operations at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. He has nearly 20 years of high- level management experience in the hospitality industry, and previously served as vice president of food and beverage operations at Mandalay Bay. FAVA Nelson Araujo is director of community development and partnerships for Consumer Credit Counseling Service, overseeing the agency's community, private industry and government partnership programs statewide. He previously was regional representative and foreclosure mitigation lead for Sen. Harry Reid. Steve Romeo is the resident hearing care professional for the Henderson office of Beltone, focusing on patient care and software programming. Romeo is a veteran of the audio and video industries. Alicia Jividen is North America director of sales and gaming, for iBAHN, an IP-based entertainment and information services for the hospitality and meeting industries. She previously was a sales manager at Aruze Gaming America. JIVIDEN Andrew Pollard is beverage development specialist for Wirtz Beverage Nevada, reporting to Drew Levinson, who assumes the role of beverage development manager. Pollard previously was property mixologist for the Cosmopolitan. POLLARD Nevada State Treasurer Kate Marshall is 2012 president of the National Association of State Treasurers. She previously served as vice president. In the position, Marshall will preside over national conferences and the NAST national executive committee, which is responsible for establishing policy and for setting the agenda at national meetings. NAST membership is composed of all state treasurers, or state finance officials with comparable responsibilities, from the United States, its commonwealths, territories, and the District of Columbia. Janine Marshall is an account coordinator in the account service division of the Las Vegas office of the Glenn Group, handling client activities and production timelines for the Nevada-based advertising, interactive and public relations agency. MARSHALL Cynthia Betancourt is director of facility projects for the operations division of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. She previously held senior positions at EDI Architecture, BSB Design, Slade Development and JMA Architecture Studios. Dave Bouquet is vice president of sales and business development for Skyline Exhibits, a producer and designer for the trade show industry. He previously was a director of sales and business development. The College of Southern Nevada foundation board of trustees has announced its 2012 Legacy of Achievement award recipients. The honorees are: Henderson Municipal Court Judge Diana D. Hampton; Western Zone President of American Residential Services Kenneth D. Goodrich; CSN Fine Arts Department Chairman Richard McGee; and Sunbelt Communications Executive Vice President of News Robert (Bob) Stoldal. Recipients are chosen by trustees for the impact of their contributions locally, statewide and nationally. The honorees receive an endowed scholarship at CSN in their name. Robin Wadley-Munier has been appointed by the City of Las Vegas to the board of trustees of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, filling the unexpired term of M. Frances Barron. She is a liaison to Las Vegas City Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian. Alan Helms is director of operations at MDL Group, a southern Nevada real estate brokerage and property management firm. Nigel Parfitt is a Nevada Certified Supervising Community Manager for Benchmark Association Services, an Associa company.
