July 2015 www.daltonchamber.org Chamber Link 7 Camp DEM Camp DEM The Design, Engineering, & Manufacturing Summer Camp (Camp DEM) was started in 2011 to expose middle school students to careers in the floorcover- ing industry. The 4-day camp is facilitated by mem- bers of industry, local K-12 educators, and post-sec- ondary educators. Campers enjoy designing a car using CAD, electronics, carpet design, Lego robot- ics, industrial robotics, laser design, measurement, career counseling, chemistry experiments, rocket building, designing a hovercraft, and teambuilding activities. The camp, which has no fee for campers, has grown from 31 to 129 students in five years.
