Chamber Link July 2015 14 Diplomat of the Month Jennifer Baxter Since you have been Diplomat of the month many times, and Diplomat of the year twice, what else if there to know about Jennifer Baxter? I wish there was something really interesting to say here, like I'm secretly a spy. That would be interesting. But I guess the thing that would surprise most peo- ple is that I don't actually work for the Chamber. I get that question pretty often. I'm originally from Murray County, and I went to Murray County High, then UGA for undergrad (Go Dawgs!) and Georgia State for law school. It makes me really happy to see people I grew up with owning their own busi- nesses. I love that people I have known since we were kids are now part of my professional life. That's what makes small towns great. What has changed about your career since you started with the program? Well, I am much busier than I was three three years ago. My practice has grown considerably, which is just a testament to how important Chamber membership is to a growing business. I'm also out in my own practice now, which is interesting. Being part lawyer and part business owner can be chal- lenging at times, but I love it and I wouldn't have it any other way. Any advice you'd give to someone who wants to grow their business through Chamber membership? Get involved. Like everything else in life, participation is the key to success. You have to be out there making those contacts and meeting people to grow any kind of business. Come to events, get your name out there and take advantage of opportunities when they arise.
