Hot times at Lake Country festivals this summer By Chris Bennett Special to The Freeman PEWAUKEE — Wisconsinites cer- tainly know what to do once winter's grip ceases and the weather is finally hospitable. Outdoors is the place to be, and summer offerings for enter- tainment in Lake Country are plenti- ful. North Shore Bank's Taste of Lake Country, now in its 12th year, is one of the area's more popular events. This year's Taste of Lake Country is from 5-10:30 p.m. July 24 and 25 in down- town Pewaukee, at 160 W. Wisconsin Ave., along Pewaukee Lake. "It's become a staple in people's lives," Elaine Kroening said. Kroen- ing is the executive director of Posi- tively Pewaukee, the group that stages Taste of Lake Country. "People look for it every summer." The roster for Taste of Lake Coun- try is currently at 16 restaurants. A full listing of participants is available at http://tasteoflakecountry.com. Kroening said the event's culinary diversity is a selling point. "What I love about the restaurants is you can grab anything from a foot- long from Billy Ho's to our ever popu- lar Prime Rib sandwich from the Golden Mast," Kroening said. Aside from purchasing food, Taste of Lake Country is free. Unlike many tasting events, Taste of Lake Country does not offer bite-sized sampler por- tions. The offerings are standard sized.
