On Tuesday, May 19 the varsity baseball players played against Pleasant Valley in their play off games. After the PV game the team is officially in the sectional championships. "We won, 7 to 0, it was amazing," Ryland Sanders, the head coach, said about the game against Pleasant Valley. According to the team Pleasant Valley was a difficult team, that they had played many times before. "I think we will be alright. I think it will be tough, but we just need to come out swinging the bat and hitting the ball," Ryan Gamboa, junior, said before they played PV. He felt that through their more focused practices they could win as a team. "We are taking extra cuts at practice, just the same old routine as before, just more focused," Gamboa commented. The rest of the team felt the same way. "We are trying to be really focused at practices, trying to get things done right and hope it carries into games," Wesley Clawson, sophomore, said, confirming what Gamboa had said. "Just working on making sure the get a lot of swings in at practice and making sure they keep their legs fresh," Head Coach Sanders said. He knew his players were already at the top of their game and just wanted them to stay fresh and focused. Sanders said that before the playoff game they had played PV five times and beat them three times. "We just need to make it four times out of six," Sanders said. According to the boys their coaches had a large part in getting them through the season. "I like our coaches a lot, all of them," Gamboa said about his coaches. He continued saying, "They seem to know what they are talking about, they are good guys and they want to win as much as anyone. They don't want the season to be over." Through the coaches' good communication, their motivation and determination, the team knows that they had a great season. "So far the season is going pretty well, we have a few games we didn't do too well, but so far pretty successful," Sanders said. The team went very far in their season and they, along with the coaches, are very proud of what they have accomplished.
