Movie has a marvelous mix of thrill, humor and romance. Page 4 April 24, 2015 Arts and Entertainment Not enough information, great movie though. Amazing movie with extremely memorable actors. A fantastic book with a unique plot and great potential for a movie. Bluffer Staff Pick 'Big Hero 6' (2014) A must-see for anyone who wants a cute Disney movie! Rebecca Frey Staff Writer Julissa Villalobos Staff Writer 'Furious 7' tops off spectacular series 'Unfriended' pleases the taste for honest horror 'Paper Towns' transforms 'The Longest Ride' thrills the viewers through humor and romance This award-winning Disney movie made me both cry and laugh. 'Big Hero 6' is about a young genius, Hiro, trying to avenge his brother's death by apprehending the man who made it happen, and stole his invention. Along with Hiro is the most adorable inflatable creature named Baymax, who is a robotic nurse Hiro's brother created. Together, they arm up and try to take the masked man down, but along the way they get a few friends to help them. Through Hiro's and their friends inventions, they start to become something similar to a team of nerdy superheroes, which, in my opinion, are the best. After a stunning discovery about the masked man and his brother's death, Hiro lets his emotions get the best of him, and uses Baymax for injury instead of the care he was made for. The team, even though they have hardships, successfully take the man's power against them away, and saves the day. However, there is still danger in an unstoppable portal that the criminal used to destroy, and there's a woman who's alive inside the portal. Baymax and Hiro go in to try to save a life which is what they were made for. They find trouble in trying to leave the portal before it collapses on itself, and Baymax is left behind while Hiro and the woman is saved and goes to safety. The man is apprehended and the woman lives, the team has saved the day, but Baymax is still gone. Later, Hiro finds that through Baymax's thinking, there's a chance to bring him back. This movie has one Oscar win for Best Animated Film, fifteen more wins, and thirty- five nominations, and I believe it's well-deserved. I love Disney movies, pretty much all of them, and this one has made it into my favorite top ten. It's funny and clever, and just a silly movie to watch. It does tear your heart out a little bit, but the just overall adorableness of Baymax makes up for it. I recommend this movie to anyone who's looking for a cute and funny Disney movie to watch. If you haven't heard about it already, 'The Longest Ride' is a fantastic film that focuses not only on one love story, but two of them. It's based off of Nicholas Sparks's novel and let me just say, this is the cutest romance movie I have ever seen. It starts off at a bull riding contest that the leading female character, Sophia Danko, was forced into attending thanks to her sorority sister's desire to put Sophia out there. In a dangerous and exhilarating meet, professional bull rider, Luke Collins successfully completes an 8 second ride, gets chased to the rails by a violent beast and ends up in a captivating eye lock with Sophia. Instantly you can feel the spark that ignites between their eyes and you know that this is exactly how you want to meet the future love of your life. Their friendship progresses into a first date and that's when Ira, a 90 year old World War II veteran, literally crashes into their life. From that point on, Ira's love story becomes a series of flashbacks intertwined with Luke and Sophia's current tale. It's brilliant how the directors managed to incorporate two distinct stories without overwhelming the audience or boring them with an old tale. They also capture the chemistry between Ira and his lover, Ruth, back in the 1940's. Although every relationship comes with more ups, it also brings a few downs especially when it pulls together two diverse personalities. Sophia's city girl life and tranquil career as an art major collides with Luke's laid back country style and risky, potentially deadly, career in bull riding. Just as Sophia's art career is taking off, they realize how different they actually are which brings me to my favorite part of the movie. Luke agrees to accompany Sophia on one of her art shows where he watches a man persuade a woman into buying a painting of a bunch of squiggly lines for 20 grand. He then comes to the conclusion that it was incredibly ridiculous to waste such a vast amount of money on seemingly random lines. Amidst the event, Sophia's boss asks him what his honest opinion of the gallery is, to which he gives the answer of "There's more B.S. here than where I work at." After watching 'The Longest Ride', all I could think of was, "I want my own Luke Collins." Characters of the movie are played by Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster. Director James Wan hits it off again as the next big movie is out that has people raging to see. On April 3, 2015 all around the U.S., 'Fast and Furious 7' roars back into theaters and has become the "have to see" movie. The two-hour film is about a dead man's brother seeking revenge on the Torretto gang. 'Furious 7' may be the closest thing we see to another spectacular entry, the mind blowing action, new cars, new cast members and a gentle goodbye to Paul Walker. Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez still have really good chemistry, and Ludacris and Tyrese add Mel's Place Spray tan 332 Oak Street Red Bluff , CA 96080 melsplace@att.net Get that natural looking SunK- issed Glow to wear with your Prom Dress Regulary: $25.00 Mention this ad to get $5 off Please Call for an Appointment 530-604-4182 the extra comic spice. Wan has put heartfelt, family, fighting, cars and romance all in one. Wan is a director to watch out for. Wan's movie is so aware and respectful of its fandom, so intent on wowing. 'Furious 7' out of the other seven 'Furious' movies are definitely the most popular, especially now since the actor Paul Walker, who play's Brion O'Connor in the movie has recently become deceased. Over six films this crew has come to feel like family. The movie definitely had people touched and their faces wet from tears as the actors poured out their true emotions. They don't kill Walker off in the movie which I thought was appropriate and a good thing, instead they make it seem like O'Connor has another life that he needs to attend to. I won't spoil the ending, but it's to die for. So for now let's just leave this as one last ride, for Paul. www.furious7.com Britney Miranda Staff Writer 'Unfriended' is a horror movie with a very close story line to 'The Den'. John Green is best known for his best seller, 'The Fault in our Stars'. However, he takes a different and more adventurous approach to yet another best seller, 'Paper Towns'. Despite this novel being a bit older, it is now being made into a major motion picture. 'Paper Towns' is set in a small town in Florida. This novel is about Quentin Jacobsen, a senior in high school and a heartthrob to all (and only) band geeks. Quentin has lived his life in the shadows of his school; however, he grew up living next to the most popular, and most intriguing, girl in school. That girl is Margo Roth Spiegelman, the girl that I truly believe is Quentin Jacobsen's one true love. After a traumatic childhood experience when they were nine, involving both Quentin and Margo, the two stopped Sophia Cumpton Staff Writer talking. That is, until one night when the ever-so mysterious Margo creeps into Quentin's room in the middle of the night and offers him a night of adventure and rebelling. An offer, of course, he cannot refuse, and changes the remainder of his senior year. In the past, Margo Roth Spiegelman has gone on breaks from everyday life and runs off on her own two-day- long adventures. However, when an adventure goes on longer than usual, Quentin, his friends, and Margo's friends come together to decipher the notes left for Quentin to find Margo. Despite the notes Quentin finding being extremely confusing to decipher, it sends the reader into the novel, trying to help the friends of Margo find her. This novel also shows the real high school, not the 'Mean Girls', and jocks-win-all high school that most fiction novels and films portray. It shows the realistic drama and realistic people getting together with unrealistic people. I believe this book is the exemplary combination of mystery, adventure, romance, comedy, and suspense. It's hard for me to find the words to describe why others should read this book. I almost want to keep the secrets written by the brilliant John Green to myself. I know, however, that doing so would be a travesty to readers everywhere. This myst e r y/rom a nce/come dy/ adventure/suspense novel is just absolutely spectacular. 'Unfriended' is a horror film on a group a friends after one had commited suicide. It was directed by Levan Gabriadze. The movie was written by Nelson Greaves, and produced by Timur Bekmambetov, Jason Blum and Greaves. It was theatrically released April 17, 2014 and the movie so far has earned over $16 million on the box office. The film follows 6 friends a year after one of the peers, Laura Barns, committed suicide. It is told through Blair's laptop as if we were looking at her screen. It started when Mitch got a Facebook message from Laura. Blair then gets the message, she tells Mitch and he sends her a link with a website warning "Don't answer messages from the dead," which she ignores. The six were on Skype when an anonymous user entered the chat. This anonymous user starts to torment the six as they frantically wonder why they are being attacked. Everything starts to crash when they realize the user is coming from Laura's old Skype account. The movie itself was pretty good for a one of this time as most are very overused and unoriginal. It was scary enough for me but if it had a stronger plot line, or went more into depth of what happened before Laura's suicide, it would have soared. However, it very much resembled the movie 'The Den', almost having the exact plot line with minor changes. There were many twists and turns throughout the plot that take you through many emotional stages. The actors really portrayed their characters with great emotion, something most horror movies are lacking these days. What tops it off is there was nine actors and only sixteen days of shooting. Overall it was a good movie, definitely one to watch if you're not too big on scary movies. " ...this is the cutest romance movie I have ever seen.
