Spartan's Coach of the Issue Chris Sinclair Assistant Baseball Coach "This coach of the issue is Chris Sinclair. He teaches a variety of math classes and is the assistant varsity baseball and track coach while also coaching, and refereeing frosh basketball. Sinclair went to Chico State and graduated with a BS in mathematics and stated that he 'became a teacher so he could coach'. The part he loves most is, he stated, "the practices, I enjoy building relationships with kids outside of the classroom." The JV Baseball team has been doing well this season and is preparing to continue the streak. On April 10-11 the JV Baseball team is going to Foothill JV Tourney and they seem ready to face their opponents. "I feel like if we really try we can beat all of them," Dustin Crain, sophomore, said. The team is feeling strong and with teamwork and practice they feel they can go far this season. With the help of each other and a supportive coach the team is prepared for the games ahead. "I think he's one of the best coaches I've ever had," Michael Chapman, sophomore, said about the head coach. The head coach George Moran is training the boys hard and helping them in bettering their playing skills. The players also get along with each other very well. Practices are all about getting better and pushing others to also get better. "We usually trash talk each other at practice," stated Sophomore Kai Cardillo. The players always make sure that the others understand basics and other moves in tennis. "I'm always really tired after school and going to tennis practice after kind of sucks but I've sort of built a tolerance for playing when I'm tired." Said Senior Trey Shilts. The experience has also brought the team closer together. "Its an individual sport, but it's also sort of a team sport because you need your teammates to do well too" said sophomore Mitchell Morehead. Tennis is often taken as an easy sport but is harder than people give it credit for. There are challenging aspects in it just like every other sport. Most have said that serving can be the most Red Bluff High School varsity softball team have won one league game and has lost one league game, according to freshman player Aubree Akins. Ashley Exum who is a Senior on the team says, "All of us like each other, I'd say so, because we all know each other so we all are very supportive of each other." Despite all that Jackson says,"I'm really looking forward to the game, I think it will be a lot of fun." Many of the students here at RBHS are also looking forward to the game. Sophomore Morgan Thayer says," I'm really excited and stoked for this years powder puff game because I'm looking forward to the Mr.Spartan contestants dressed up as cheerleaders." Thayer also says, " I think the game means a lot more than just girls playing football, I think its more of a women pride thing, and the boys cheering the girls on is really supportive and great." better," Chapman said. Crain agreed, saying their season was going pretty good even though they have lost a few games. Even with a few loses they feel that with practice and teamwork the team can pull through and make up for their lost games. Despite their lost games the boys feel confident they can make it up. "Getting to hang out with my friends and getting to know them better," Crain said was one of his favorite parts about baseball and he can use it in the game. By knowing his team better the boys can work as a team and trust each other to make the calls they see fit. "Going in the van is pretty fun." Chapman said who enjoys the travelling the game has to offer. Together all the boys can use what they most enjoy about the game to become a better team and prepare for the upcoming Tourney. amazing opportunity. When she was asked how she felt about this year being her last season on the team she responded with, "It makes me sad because this is my last season playing, but happy for all the experiences that I have had with the sisterhood that we have made over the last 4 years." The girls practice at 1:30 on Mondays and 3:30 the rest of week. Murphy plays the position of first base. Murphy explained "We are 1-1 in league. And we hope to win sections like we did last year." The coaches for this years team are Aubrie Thomas and Wade Souza. Murphy explained the people in her life that support her the most. "My family as a whole, but my mom is the one always making sure I'm ready for everything and being at all the games. My sister for being at all the games and picking me up while I'm struggling during a game or had a bad game. Finally, my dad. He taught me how to play and passed on his love for the game to me, but he was killed in a logging accident after my sophomore year season. I play for him and always have him on my mind while I am playing."
