November 2011 My Two Cents by Jim Koury, Editor Welcome to the Novem- ber issue of Diversity Rules Magazine. This issue is full of some really great infor- mation. I hope you enjoy the issue. I know I say this each month, but I think THIS issue is the best one yet! Lettman-Hicks, the Executive Director of the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC). The NBJC is a black LGBT leadership and advo- cacy organization. The mission of the NBJC is to eradicate rac- ism and homophobia and is America's leading national Black LGBT civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, strengthening bonds and bridging gaps between straight and LGBT people and communities. Martha Wash Queer Resource Directory Two This month's feature in- terview is with Sharon J. as the feature interview and to promote the mission of the NBJC. Additionally, there have been two notable deaths recently; Mr. Axel Axgil and Mr. Frank Kameny. Axgil, 96, was a gay rights pioneer who fought for equality in Denmark, and was instrumental in that country becoming the first one to legalize same sex partnerships. Ka- meny, 86, was a leading figure in the gay rights movement in the DC area and the nation. His homosexuality lead to his dismissal from a fed- eral government job. We must remember those who blazed the trail before us. We often fail to remember the ef- forts of these two men and many others before us. It is because of them that we can stand proudly and revel in the many acheivments that have moved us closer to the American ideal of liberty and justice for all. Rest in peace brave soldiers. Your efforts have not been for naught. We salute you and honor your memories.
